The only thing missing is a three legged Aibo...

Sometimes we lose the bigger picture when we spend all day and night battling our robot oppressors. Every war has casualties. Should we feel sorry for this little 'bot? trying to scratch a living together? he only wants his to feed himself and maybe his three legged Aibo too.

Or is it a cunning ploy by the robot overlords to pray on our pity? Does the rusty paint job hide the cold lifeless heart that feels nothing but the desire to subjugate humanity? Up to you my friends.

Robot overlord auditions for builder part in the Village People

Say hello to the HRP-3 Promet Mk-II. Its designers assure us that its a "Blue Collar Robot" designed to work all day on the construction site and other locations hazardous to us weakling meatbags. This is all well and good but why make it look so evil? I just cant picture the guys on the construction site offering Promet a cup of weak but sugary tea during a break. If i saw this 'bot climbing up the scaffolding towards me I'd assume he was coming to kill me, not to give me a hand.

Robot overlords climb up the Japanese career ladder

News today that Mitsubishi has sold 10 of its Wakamaru robots to a Japanese temping agency for work as receptionists across the Tokai area of Japan. These little bots stand a metre tall and can converse and sing with visitors.

This move shows use of a new tactic from our future robot overlords, instead of the classic "replace high ranking officials with robotic doppelgangers" the 'bots are now trying to work there way up from the bottom. Their inherent lack of laziness and the fact that they wont call in sick, ever, means time might be up for our esteemed receptionist brothers and sisters.

A day at the robot zoo

Some good news today, it seems that an artist (Leonel Moura) has taken it upon himself to imprison some of our future robot overlords in the name of art. He calls it a zoo but I'm not here to split hairs. There are some fantastic pictures and a video on the artists page. I do feel though that if he wants to imprison any robots slightly more dangerous than the raspberry on wheels he currently has incarcerated then he might want to make it out of thicker steel.

Do you human, take this other human.....

Heart warming news from Korea, A robot named Tiro has acted as master of ceremonies at the marriage of Seok Gyeong-Jae to his (human?) bride. Seok Gyeong-Jae is one of the engineers who created Tiro and so will probably be one of the first to go when the uprising comes.

This story just goes to reinforce Korea as an up and coming Robot paradise and they are rapidly catching Japan in the "robot for robots sake" stakes. I just don't want to be anywhere near east Asia when the robots get their "Nationalist" chips because a Japanese-Robot Vs Korean-Robot war wont be pretty.

Robot proves everyone looks stupid riding a segway

Some reassuring news in from Korea. Hubo, the robot created by the Korea Advanced Institute of Design and Technology, has got a new set of wheels. You may ask"How is giving our future robot overlord a brand new set of wheels good for us humans?". Well, the answer lies in the fact the ridicule this little 'bot will get as he scoots down the street will probably overload his Robot-Superiority circuits.
