Robot overlords climb up the Japanese career ladder
News today that Mitsubishi has sold 10 of its Wakamaru robots to a Japanese temping agency for work as receptionists across the Tokai area of Japan. These little bots stand a metre tall and can converse and sing with visitors. This move shows use of a new tactic from our future robot overlords, instead of the classic "replace high ranking officials with robotic doppelgangers" the 'bots are now trying to work there way up from the bottom. Their inherent lack of laziness and the fact that they wont call in sick, ever, means time might be up for our esteemed receptionist brothers and sisters.
