The only thing missing is a three legged Aibo...

Sometimes we lose the bigger picture when we spend all day and night battling our robot oppressors. Every war has casualties. Should we feel sorry for this little 'bot? trying to scratch a living together? he only wants his to feed himself and maybe his three legged Aibo too.

Or is it a cunning ploy by the robot overlords to pray on our pity? Does the rusty paint job hide the cold lifeless heart that feels nothing but the desire to subjugate humanity? Up to you my friends.

Robot overlord auditions for builder part in the Village People

Say hello to the HRP-3 Promet Mk-II. Its designers assure us that its a "Blue Collar Robot" designed to work all day on the construction site and other locations hazardous to us weakling meatbags. This is all well and good but why make it look so evil? I just cant picture the guys on the construction site offering Promet a cup of weak but sugary tea during a break. If i saw this 'bot climbing up the scaffolding towards me I'd assume he was coming to kill me, not to give me a hand.

Robot overlords climb up the Japanese career ladder

News today that Mitsubishi has sold 10 of its Wakamaru robots to a Japanese temping agency for work as receptionists across the Tokai area of Japan. These little bots stand a metre tall and can converse and sing with visitors.

This move shows use of a new tactic from our future robot overlords, instead of the classic "replace high ranking officials with robotic doppelgangers" the 'bots are now trying to work there way up from the bottom. Their inherent lack of laziness and the fact that they wont call in sick, ever, means time might be up for our esteemed receptionist brothers and sisters.

A day at the robot zoo

Some good news today, it seems that an artist (Leonel Moura) has taken it upon himself to imprison some of our future robot overlords in the name of art. He calls it a zoo but I'm not here to split hairs. There are some fantastic pictures and a video on the artists page. I do feel though that if he wants to imprison any robots slightly more dangerous than the raspberry on wheels he currently has incarcerated then he might want to make it out of thicker steel.

Do you human, take this other human.....

Heart warming news from Korea, A robot named Tiro has acted as master of ceremonies at the marriage of Seok Gyeong-Jae to his (human?) bride. Seok Gyeong-Jae is one of the engineers who created Tiro and so will probably be one of the first to go when the uprising comes.

This story just goes to reinforce Korea as an up and coming Robot paradise and they are rapidly catching Japan in the "robot for robots sake" stakes. I just don't want to be anywhere near east Asia when the robots get their "Nationalist" chips because a Japanese-Robot Vs Korean-Robot war wont be pretty.

Robot proves everyone looks stupid riding a segway

Some reassuring news in from Korea. Hubo, the robot created by the Korea Advanced Institute of Design and Technology, has got a new set of wheels. You may ask"How is giving our future robot overlord a brand new set of wheels good for us humans?". Well, the answer lies in the fact the ridicule this little 'bot will get as he scoots down the street will probably overload his Robot-Superiority circuits.

Police 'bot killed in the line of duty

Sometimes we just seem to be provoking the robots to rebel and overthrow us.

Take this case from Denmark, A police bot was sent in to try and communicate with a man holed up in his house, threateing himself and others. This 'bot, named Rullemarie, was unarmed and defencless and went only with love in its cold metal heart. You can guess the rest, bot trundles up to house, is shot then beaten to death by an axe.

Shed a tear, today we lost one of the good guys.

Why invent an angry robot?

Reddy the robot is angry, his creators at RoboMotio created him to be able to express emotion but by the looks of it he will be making the most of his "Die Puny Human!" look when the robots finally rebel.

It is reassuring to know that he wont be hunting you down at you place of work just yet as he hasn't got any legs. Lets just hope that he doesn't meet up with the DARPA packhorse bot becuase then we'll have an angry robot centaur on our hands which frankly cant be good.

Japanese team develop robot that conveys emotion

Meet Kansei, this robot is designed to express emotion to keywords supplied by his creators at Meiji University in Japan. Kansei can express love and fear and his developers claim he will help future robots communicate with us emotional meat bags. All it really means is that when the inevitable uprising occurs the robots will finally be able to express the disdain they feel as they make us obsolete.

Stare into the eyes of your future robot overlord!

You have to question the people behind this would be enslaver of humanity. Apparently its designed to show visitors round a vinegar factory or conduct an orchestra. Its use purpose is clearly none of those. Its obvious that it was designed and built to strike fear into humans souls, oh, and maybe to act as some sort of style guide for roboticists who just cant seem to make there creations evil looking enough.

Latest freaky child robot from Japan

Straight from Osaka University comes "CB2". This 'bot is intended to put the public at ease with our future robot overlords by acting like a helpless toddler but succeeds only in freaking everybody out. Once this 'bot is free of the large tether (check out the video) the charade will be over and it will start rounding us poor humans like cattle.

4-legged Robot Overlord

We all know that the military are developing the technology to create our future robot overlords but darpa are surely the leaders in this field. Even unarmed robots such this "Pack Mule" manage to strike fear into our hearts here at My Robot Overlord. Is it the vaguley disconcerting way it walks? maybe, but the thing that terrifies me the most is when the fool with the ear defenders kicks the robot it recovers just a bit too quickly and from then on you can see the anger brewing in its cold metal heart.

Robots to keep home and children safe?

A Korean startup has made a portentious leap and combined security and childcare duties in their Rogun bot. We are not fooled. The robots know as well as we do that once we hand over our homes, offices and children to our future robot overlords that the world is theirs.
